I am very grateful to the following people for advising me in this process:
Joe Frizell, Owner, Joe’s Garage, 1426 North Sea Road
Southampton, NY 11968 – One of the best independently owned auto repair shops on Long Island. Joe’s Garage’s six-bay work area can accommodate anything from a beach buggy to an 18,000 lb. work truck. In addition to being a great mechanic, and having a passion for cars, Joe is a great entrepreneur. Joe recognized that he had the opportunity to make an environmental difference, and he installed a recycled motor oil fired furnace to heat the building. I had the privilege of interning with him for three weeks in March of 2011, and learned a tremendous amount during my time there. Joe has a great team, and he generously put the Mustang up on the lift, on a Sunday morning, within a week of its arrival.
Dean Silvera, Owner, Aventura Motors, 25 County Road 39A, Southampton, NY 11968 – Specializing in the sale, maintenance and restoration of classic cars. They are experts in the full and partial restoration of Mercedes, Jaguar, Porsche and other fine European vehicles as well as classic American muscle cars from Corvettes to… MUSTANGS! and beyond. Their cars have been featured on Jerry Seinfeld’s show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
Ted Damiecki – Ted is a family friend, and a classic car enthusiast. Together, with his mechanic brother, he has restored a number of vintage cars. Ted has a ton of connections to sources of parts, service, etc, and came on board as an advisor at the point where we were just beginning our search for the right car.
Matthew Aldredge – Mr Aldredge is my faculty advisor for the project. He is the 10th grade Cultural History teacher at the Ross School. He has always been an automobile enthusiast. On a recent school trip to Italy, he and I spent a good amount of time appreciating the European cars we saw there.
